THE LAST ROSE OF SUMMER
THOMAS MOORE

 4 -4 5 7 -7 -6 6 5
'Tis the last rose of summer,
4 4 5 6 5 -4 4 4
left- bloom-ing all a-lone.
4 -4 5 7 -7 -6 6 5
All her lovely com - pan-ions,
4 -4 5 6 5 -4 4 4
are - fa - - ded and gone.
6 5 7 -7 -6 6 6 5
No- flower of her kindred,
6 5 7 -7 -6 6# -5 -7 7
no- rose- bud-  -  is nigh;
4 -4 5 7 -7 -6 6 5
To re-flect back her - blushes,
4 -4 5 6 5 -4 4 4
and- give- - sigh for sigh.

I'll not leave thee, thou lone one! to pine on the stem
Since the lovely are sleeping, go sleep thou with them
'Thus kindly I scatter thy leaves o'er the bed
Where thy mates of the garden lie scentless and dead.

So soon may I follow, when friendships decay
And from love's shining circle the gems drop away
When true hearts lie wither'd and fond ones are flown
Oh! who would inhabit this bleak world alone!
