Verse 1: (Willie)
Bm7 A G Bm7
I was a highwayman, along the coach roads I did ride,
A G A
Sword and pistol by my side,
Em Bm A Em
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade,
Em Bm A Em
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade,
Bm7 A G Bm7
The basterds hung me in the spring of 25,
D A
But I am still alive

Verse 2: (Waylon)
I was a sailor, I was born upon the tide,
With the sea I did abide,
I sailed a schooner round the horn of Mexico,
I went aloft and furled the main sail in a blow,
And when the yard broke off they say that I got killed,
But I am living still

Verse 3: (Johnny)
I was a dam builder, across a river long and wide,
Where steel and water did collide,
A place called bolder on the wild Colorado,
I slipped and fell on the wet concrete below,
They buried me in that gray tomb that knows no sounds,
But I am still around,

Bridge Thingy: (All)
                D D/C# Bm7 A G D/F# Em
I'll always be around, and around, and around, and around, and around

Verse 4: (Johnny)
I'll fly a starship across the universe divide,
And when I reach the other side,
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can,
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again,
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain,
But I will remain,

Outro: (All) (same chords as bridge)
And I'll be back again, and again, and again, and again, and again
Versión 2 - Highwayman (Letra y acordes)
Tabbed by Andrew MacNaughton -- *

Notes: This is a beautiful song, and obviously involves several instruments; here is
"my" version of the guitar part. I use the Travis picking technique, since I think it
suits the rythm of the song and sounds fairly close to the actual song itself. Basically
I wanted to learn this song, and couldn't find a version I liked online, so after playing
Dust in the Wind (which uses the same picking technique), decided that the picking
technique for that song would suit this one, so I figured out the chords (very basic
ones), and applied the technique. It remains the same throughout the song, though you
can vary the bass line, the pattern of the picking, and the hammer-ons, etc. to
improve/spice up the song. This is my first tabbing project, and I'm unaware of whether
other tabbers use software to tab, but I just used notepad (hopefully the format turns
out!), so it took a while writing it all out and copying and pasting! I'd appreciate
any feedback on my first tab. Also, I'm not quite up to scratch on theory, so the
measures/bars are probably not accurate. Sounds like a 4/4 beat to me, but as I said,
I'm kind of rusty when it comes to theory...
